I have really special memories of you, Joe, going into NICU and leaning over Ira’s little bed and telling him all about the Yankee game you had watched the night before. You and Laura and Ira and Sophia came through that really, really, really tough time in your lives first and foremost because of your faith in a loving, caring God. And you were really able to think about something other than Ira’s precarious health (even if just for a few minutes at a time)by following your Yankees during the summer of 2005.
You took Ira to a Yankee game a couple of years later; and even though he did not thoroughly enjoy the noise and crowd the way you and Sophia had, he’ll know someday how special the Yankees were to you when you needed something to hang onto.
OK, I give in! I was going to post and say something “derogatory” about how the Yankees “bought” another World championship, and how “Ster-rod” was anything but a role model and MVP, etc, etc….
However, after reading your Mom’s post, I can’t help but THANK the Yankees for being there for you when you and your family needed them most!!
yay !!
Way to go, Yankees!

I’m so glad the Yankees got #27!
